Recruiting

I am looking for highly motivated and talented researchers to join my lab. If you are interested in working on research in the field of culture technology, please feel free to reach out to me. For more details, please refer to the sections below.

About the Lab

Our lab is an interdisciplinary research group in the field of cultural technology. We design instruments and acoustic devices that enable physical/digital interaction, based on physics-based sound and acoustic simulation technology. Through this, our lab aims to develop new instruments and novel musical technologies. The primary technologies our lab employs are:

  1. physics-based sound simulation through computer programming,
  2. instrument prototyping and manufacturing, and
  3. physical property reverse-engineering and design based on artificial intelligence and digital signal processing.

However, methodologies may vary depending on the problem the researcher seeks to solve, and we always very welcome proposals for new problem-solving approaches. Therefore, regardless of your level of interest in the above methodologies, we welcome anyone from diverse backgrounds who has a new problem definition or a new methodology for solving existing problems.

Lab Culture

Our lab operates bilingually (Korean and English) to accommodate the diverse backgrounds of our members. For academic matters, English is the standard language, while Korean is used for daily life. Therefore, even if you do not speak Korean, there will be no issues whatsoever regarding admission or laboratory work.

We encourage open communication and collaboration among lab members, and we value diversity and inclusivity in our research environment. We also prioritize work-life balance and mental health, and we strive to create a supportive and positive lab culture.

Location

The lab is located in the Graduate School of Culture Technology (GSCT) at KAIST, which is located in Daejeon, South Korea. The office is in N5 building.
